Two guards at the gate was died and four others injured and the driver, who is suspected to be a suicide bomber, died in the explosion. Different government officials arrived at the scene immediately.

Al-shabab insurgents group claim responsibility of the filled suicide attack

Usual activities were going on at the airport when the explosion occurred. All people inside the airport at the time were advised to remain inside until the scene was cleared.

The failed attack, which targeted Mogadishu’s main airport, comes weeks after Al-shabab militias attacked the Muna hotel and killed thirty two people, including four MPs.

Adan Adde International Airport is one of the strategic positions in the city and it is under the control of the Somali Transitional Federal Government forces and African Union peacekeepers.
