Silence and Pain -Oagdeni refugees in Yemen
By Ahmed Abdi-Dozens of war refugees from –ª#–Žoccupied_Ogaden–¬ in Yemen are suffering without any one taking notice of their sufferings.

" What about us ?" Is a phrase that your ears easily can catch when you are with the destitute women and children in Sana'a and Al-Kharez refugee camp, South of Yemen , who are originally from Ogaden region in Ethiopia.

"You are a freelance journalist, Ahmed. Why don't you write about us, said Mohamed, an Ogadeni young man and father , who previously forced to spend nearly three years and half in prison, Jail Ogaden, for allegedly being a sympathizers for ONLF fighters.

When Saudi-led air strikes are pounding Yemen. The children cry and their mothers seek a way to silence them. They told them lies, such as: " don't worry baby, It is a firework, " it is a wedding ceremony" to stop their hearts that are pounding for fear.

The war ( air strikes) has ended", said to me, Abdi Senweyne, a 3-year-old baby that I have encountered in front of my house when I was getting out. I soon learnt the concern of the baby. Yes, It will soon end , I said. ' Who is pounding us, I asked?' The reply comes, "Arabs".

It is women and children who suffer most when it comes to wars and many of them left their problems unreported.

Farhiya , who is four years pregnant for the first time of her life, passed through severe torture by the hands of Ethiopian Security Forces in Ogaden region.

She has been feeling pain on her kidney and she mistakenly assumed that she has a kidney problem but when she went to see a doctor he told her different story . He said, "You have scar on the womb and you need to have immediate medication before surgery.

She felt helpless when she understood the problem related to the torture that she was inflicted on her during her days in the Ethiopian jail.

She is currently unemployed and she doesn't have anyone to help her. She informed her problems to the Ogadeni community leader Sayid Lukman, who submitted her problems to the UN Refugee Agency.Unfortunately, the agency is too slow to reply such an urgent matters.

On the other hand, many Ogadenis feel that they are very lucky to be save from the Saudi-led air strikes. Only two Ogadeni women (refugees) suffered minor injuries after Air Strike damaged their homes. Two other families with 5-weeks old baby narrowly avoided death when missiles that landed their homes through the ceiling un-exploded.

Ogadeni refugees decry as they realize that their case remains unknown to international Community. They want to be heard their voices before it is too late.

" They do not know about my community in Yemen! Every body is talking about other refugees but nobody mention about us. We want the international community and humanitarian agencies to open their eyes and come to help us" , said Kare Mohamed , an Ogadeni elder, who have lived Yemen since 1991.

However, no country came to take them and the Ogadenis have no choice rather than staying in Yemen and praying for peace. Several people that was referred to U.S , France and Sweden for resettlement by the UN have to wait till a positive change comes to Yemen.
