Mogadishu (Sunatimes) The situation in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu can today be described as a little calm after six consecutive days of fighting.

There is no fighting between the Al-shabab rebel militias and the transitional Federal Government forces. However, some of the Al-shabab elements are throwing grenades at some of the estates in the Hodan and Howlwadag areas.

The African Union peacekeepers have also set a new temporary base at Dabka building near the strategic road of Makah-Al-Mukaramah.

Some of the residents of Mogadishu are still fleeing their houses in the areas where the conflict between TFG forces and Al-shabab militants have been taking place.

However, gun shots can still be heard at the frontline of the war where the TFG and Al-shabab militias have been fighting for the last six days.

The fighting has started on Monday when Al-shabab’s spokesman declared what he described as ‘a massive war’ against the TFG and AMISOM forces. On Tuesday two Shabab gunmen raided a hotel in the capital and killed four Somali and MPs and twenty nine other people.
