Dear friends and brothers,

We, the Somali media freedom and human rights activists received with great concern the annoying news about the recent meeting in Addis Ababa Between Omar Faruk Osman, the head of National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) and the most brutal dictator in Africa Mr.Meles Zenawi, its really shocking and embarrassing to see a man claiming that he is media freedom activist shaking hands and exchange smiles with bloody dictator like Meles Zenawi who jailed uncounted numbers of democracy advocates and human rights activists in Ethiopia and committed crimes against humanity in Ethiopia and neighboring countries.

This is How IFJ Africa Welcomes A Thug Who Is Responsible for Genocide in Ogaden, Ethiopia

Omar Faruk Osman , who is also the Secretary General of Eastern Africa Journalists Association (EAJA), believed to share dubious relations with Ethiopian Regime and other directorships in Africa (i.e Uganda, Ethiopia) , , such person is obviously dangerous to the future of press freedom in East African Region, therefore we urge all Human rights, Democracy and press freedom activists and the organizations concerned in the region and beyond to cooperate with us in order to expose this destructive personality and remove him peacefully from the media science in the region. For further details about NUSOJ and its suspicious boss, kindly read this article .

How can you participate effectively in our efforts to neutralize this threat? Well, its easy, whether you are an individual or organization , all you need to do is simply to write a letter that expresses your organization or personal views on this issue taking into account the following key points. Your personal or organization’s opinion on this issue, and according to your opinion how its going to affect the press freedom Activities in Ethiopia and Africa in general. Demand immediate re-consideration of all International Human rights, Press freedom and Democracy awards that have been given to Faruk and his Organization. Democracy, Human rights, and free unbiased media is the cornerstone of any efforts to develop the East African region and the African continent as a whole, therefore we must stand together and address the corrupt figures issue in order to create a safer and better environment where we can comfortably operate. Please forward this message to any relevant organization or concerned individual you know.
