Beledweyne (Sunatimes) Traders and drivers in the Hiran region have decided to repair some of the roads in the region. The traders and the drivers have been meeting in the past few days to collect some money to repair the roads.

A committee has been formed to be in charge of the exercise. The committee addressed the media today and said that they will start repairing the roads very soon.

The committee promised to start with the roads of Beletweyne district which is the capital of the Hiran region.

Most of the roads in Somalia have never been repaired since the collapse of Siyad Bare’s government.

There have been different small authorities that controlled some of the regions in Somalia since the civil war started. However those authorities would not repair destructed roads or provide any service to the public.
