Baidoa (Sunatimes) A meeting planned between Al-shabab representatives and local elders in the Sakow division of Baiadbo did not take place. The elders refused to attend the meeting after becoming suspicious about some of the agendas which were to be discussed.
It is reported that Al-shabab wanted to mobilize the local community to participate in its activities.
Abdifatah Elmi, who is one of the local elders in the Sakow division, said that they never wanted to engage in any activity that would cause violence in the country and therefore refused to attend the meeting.
Abdifatah also said that Al-shabab did not respond to requests that they had made earlier about how they could jointly help the disadvantaged people in the district.
Recently, the Al-shabab militia group has been holding different meetings with elders in the Juba region in order to involve them in their war against the government.
