It is reported that 9 fighters of the militia group has been killed Bosaso(Sunatimes) The militias of Sheikh Mohamed Said Atam who has connections with Al-shabab group have today clashed with the forces of Puntland authorities as more casualties are reported.

The clashes took place at the out skirts of Bosaso port city which is under the control of Puntland authorities. The Puntland administration has confirmed that five of its forces have been killed and seven others injured.

It is reported that 9 fighters of the militia group has been killed. Although there are no official reports on the impact of the fighting to the civilians, latest report confirm that a women was killed by a bullet from the Puntland forces. The militias of Sheikh Atam have first attacked Puntland forces.

Bosaso town which was a little tense before is now reported to be calm although some of the residents are seeking refuge in the hospitals and other public institutions. Gun shots can also be heard in the town. Police in Bosaso have said that 15 captives from the militia group have been brought to them by the forces.

Puntland’s intelligence service is now focusing more on Galgalo division which is the base of the Sheikh Atam’s militia group that is linked to Al-shabab group.

Puntland leaders are yet to comment on the fighting that is still going on. This is the first fighting between Puntland forces and militias allied to Al-shabab although rumors that the militias of Sheikh Atam would attack Puntland were going round. The rumors also lead to the deportation of IDPs from southern and central Somalia.
