Abudwak:Sunatimes- The administration of Ahlu-sunna wal-jamaa group in Abudwak district of the Galgadud region has stopped the broadcasting of two radio stations based in the district, although one of the stations has resumed broadcasting.

Ahlusuna ordered the two stations to stop broadcasting some of their religious programs that they thought were undermining their administration. They also ordered the stations to stop referring the Al-shabab militia group which also controls parts of Southern Somalia as Harakatu shabab al-mujahidiin (the movement of the holy youth fighters).

The orders have led to the closure of radio Abudwak and radio Badbaado which use to broadcast from Abudwak district. The director of radio Abudwak said that he decided to close the station after Ahlusuna militia group ordered them to stop broadcasting an Islamic lecture on the history of prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of ALLAH be Upon him) by a prominent Somali cleric Sheikh Mustafa Harun.

Ahlusuna’s Abudwak district commissioner Sheikh Burhan Abdulahi said that his administration did not order the stations to be closed but they ordered the stations to stop broadcasting some programs and using a few words. He said most of the journalists in Somalia prefer the Al-shabab insurgents group as Harakatul Mujahidin because they fear for their lives but the ones in Abudwak are not at any risk and can just refer to the group as Al-shabab.

However, radio Badbado is reported to have resumed broadcasting after its officials talked to the administration of Ahlu-sunna group in the Galgadud region.
