Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Security apparatus in Puntland have been given the green light to “arrest and prevent” politicians and individuals with unauthorized armed guards from destabilizing the region, Internal Security ministers says.
Khalif Isse Mudan said they will not hesitate to deal with individuals hiring unauthorized armed private security guards for the interest of the regional security.
Speaking in a press conference in Bosaso town, the minister said his regional administration will keep a watchful eye on individuals he did not mention by name in order to prevent them from causing unnecessary tension and insecurity in the region.
The minister who appeared to have been directly warning politicians opposed to president Farole’s alleged extra time in office also banned political gatherings including demonstrations in entire Puntland region.
Mudan also banned the use of tinted car windows in the region for security reasons.
He claimed political parties and the regional electoral commission are now moving with speed in order to lead the region into democratic elections based on multiparty system of politics.
His sentiment comes a day after protesters against the current administration gathered in Qardo and Bosaso towns before they were forcefully dispersed by police.
