On his arrival, the president was warmly received by his Sudanese counterpart Omar Hassan Al-Bashir who is expected to address the nation on the occasion of the anniversary which coincides with the launch of the heightening of the Roseiris Dam.
The two leaders will attend launching of the Dam, participate in the independence celebrations and also attend the 40th national festival for the Holy Qur’an, according to Sudanese media reports.
The celebrations will be attended by several dignitaries from across the globe including President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Meanwhile president Mohamud is expected to hold talks with his host, Sudanese president Omar Hassan Al-Bashir in order to chat the way forward in cementing the bilateral relations between the two countries.
It is the first trip for president Mohamud to make to Sudan since he assumed office early September last year.

President Mohamud attends 57th Anniversary of Sudan’s Independence
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has Tuesday arrived at the Sudanese city of Ad-Damazin, the capital of the Blue Nile State, to attend the 57th Anniversary of the Sudan’s Independence.
