The Eastern coast of Somalia has been hit by Tropical Cyclone 4 with wind speeds reaching 40 mph (65 kph).

Gaalka’yo and Badarbeyla towns are reported to have witnessed heavy rains.

Badarbeyla district commissioner, Sa’id Mohamed Anteno told Sunatimes that floods were experienced in some areas.

Heavy rains are also reported in the coastal towns of Eyl, Gara’ad, Jariban and Hobyo.

The strong winds forced local communication and power companies switch off their engines.

So far there have been no casualties reported.

Tropical Cyclone 4 developed Saturday night, EST, nearly 600 miles east-southeast of Cape Guardafui, Somalia.
