The clash began after militias belonging to the Raskamboni brigade attacked mutinying colleagues who set up an illegal check point in the city.
Eyewitnesses told Sunatimes that the casualties were on both sides.
Abdinasir Serar, a member of the interim Kismayo administration said security forces attacked militias at an illegal check point and the situation stabilized after wards.
Clan elders are said to be mediating between the two sides.

Five people died and several others wounded after gun fire erupted Thursday between militias in Kismayo.
