Kismayo: Sunatimes- Villagers in Kismayo city are complaining of different conditions such as malaria, common colds and others that have spread and affected many of the villages near the town.

The Hoosingow division, which is under Kismayo city jurisdiction, is one of most affected as the majority of residents have been affected by different types of diseases.

Adan Mohamud Hasan, who is one of the medical practitioners in Kismayo, told Radio Bar-kulan that the health condition of some of the villagers is devastating, hence the need for medical aid in Kismayo.

Mr. Adan appealed to the WHO to send medical aid to Kismayo to help control the spread of disease. He also stated that there are no health facilities and services provided to local citizens.

In Somalia, local and international organizations have taken over the role of the government health sector as most of the hospitals in Somalia are managed by NGOs.

The Al-shabab militia group that controls the port city of Kismayo hardly provides any services to local citizens despite giving them orders and imposing rules on them in the name of security checks and administration of the city.
