“There has been an explosion in the area. We do not have any more details currently about the nature of the explosion,” area police chief Moses Nyakwama confirmed the incident to media.
The Kenya Red Cross said three grenades had been thrown from a speeding vehicle, and that one person had been rushed to hospital.
The attack is the third witnessed at Eastleigh in 10 days. At least five people died in a grenade explosion at Hidaya mosque on Dec. 7. Area MP Yusuf Hassan was among the 15 injured.
There have been a string of attacks, often blamed on Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militants, since Kenya invaded Somalia last year.
