At least one person injured in a blast targeting a voter registration centre at Ifo refugee camp near Kenya-Somalia border.

Police say the blast was caused by an Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) planted in one of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission voter registration centres at the refugee camp.

The IED is suspected to have been planted by Al Shabaab sympathizers and targeted voter registration clerks.

It is not yet clear whether the person injured works for IEBC.

Kenya has experienced a string of gun and grenade attacks since it sent troops into Somalia to pursue Al Shabaab rebels.

Recently, officials said a message intercepted from Al Shabaab shows the terror group was offering up to Sh890,000 to kill Kenyan security officers.

Garissa County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed said the rewards are enough incentive to motivate some youths in the North Eastern to carry out attacks against Kenyan army and police.

The pay by Al Shabaab varies with the security officer’s rank.

Meanwhile, Kenyan police on Friday launched a major manhunt for a vehicle believed to have dangerous explosives ready for detonation in Nairobi.

The police issued an alert, appealing to the public to be vigilant on a salon car believed to be carrying bomb detonators that is on the lose in Nairobi after evading the police dragnet.

“The navy blue Subaru registration number KAQ 152 E is believed to be carrying ready bombs for detonation and has been evading police dragnets since last night,” read an alert from the police.

The police said that the car was spotted in Ngara residential area and Tom Mboya Street in the city but sped off as police chased it on foot because of the heavy traffic jam that was being experienced then.

“We are in hot pursuit of the salon car. We are following leads on a salon car we believe to be carrying explosives with intention of blowing up some buildings in Nairobi’s central business district,” a senior police officer told Xinhua on Friday.
