Over ten people have been arrest in this operation targeting remnants of the ousted Al-Shabaab group, according to officials in the town.

Soldiers were reportedly conducting door-to-door search in all neighbourhoods of the town to flush out militants and their sympathisers.

Officials who spoke to Sunatimes said they will immediately release all who are found to be innocent once ongoing investigations are complete.

A victim of the operation told Sunatimes that he was detained and later released after interrogations without any manhandling from the soldiers who arrested him.

Locals promised to work closely with security agents in order to strengthen security in the area.

On Wednesday troops conducted similar swoop and arrested several people who were accused of having links with the Al-Shabaab group.

Last Sunday, Al-Shabaab militants fled their bases in the area ahead of the arrival of the allied troops.
