The victim, a butcher, was murdered last night as he was heading to his house.

Galmudug regional police boss Mohamed Nur Gad told Sunatimes that police arrived at the crime scene shortly after the incident to carry out investigations.

However the assailants immediately escaped and it is not yet known the reason behind the killing.

Meanwhile, Nur said the police have been conducting operation to beef up security in the area and to crack down bandits he allegedly said cause harm to locals and their properties.

Galkayo which straddles the border separating semi-autonomous Puntland from the self-proclaimed separate region of Galmudug to the south has seen violent assassinations and organised crimes.
