Hassan said he was saddened by the brutal killing of the businessman and urged locals to stamp out individuals trying to kill intellectuals within the society.
Awdini was the head of the business community in Somalia’s biggest market, Bakara and was shot dead at point-blank range in Mogadishu on Monday. He was laid to rest the same day.
Police said more than 100 people have been arrested for questioning over his killing.
