In a session attended by 200 MPs, the parliament discussed range of issues including nomination of parliamentary sub-committees, security of the lawmakers among other issues.
Parliament selected a committee that will select several other parliamentary sub-committees in two weeks time, according speaker Mohamed Hassan Sheikh Osman Jawari.
Two new legislators were also sworn in during the session. Mogadishu mayor who is also one of the new MPs who have not taken oath was given an ultimatum of 30 days to present himself and take oath.
Monday’s session is the first since the September 10 historic elections in Mogadishu where president Mohamud was elected.

Parliament meets for the first time since election of new president
Somalia’s parliament on Monday met in Mogadishu, the first time since the recent historic presidential election where members elected a new president in 42 years.
