Two people had been killed and four other wounded in separate incidents of grenade attacks and gunfire that rocked parts of Mogadishu last night, reports say.

In one incident, unknown gunmen attacked residents of Bula-Hubey neighbourhood and gunned down the son of a prominent Somali cleric, Sheikh Noor Barud, and injured another one.

In another attack in Mana-Boliya neighbourhood, one person was killed by unknown gunmen.

In another incident, three people were seriously injured when a hand grenade was hurled into a restaurant where Somali men were gathering to chew narcotic leave popularly known as Khat at Mogadishu’s Towfiq neighbourhood.

It is not yet known who the attackers were and their motive behind all these attacks as no group has claimed responsibility.

The incident comes few days after two suicide bombers tried to blow up a hotel where the newly elected Somali president was holding press conference after meeting Kenyan delegation from Nairobi.

Both the president and the Kenyan foreign affairs minister escaped unhurt during this attack. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility of the attack.
