Several top African leaders have attended the ceremony. Ethiopia’s new leader Hailemariam Desalegn, Djiboutian president Ismail Omar Guelleh and representatives of the Sudanese and Ugandan governments were among top African leaders present at the ceremony.
Mohamud promised to tackle insecurity, fix the country’s ailing economy and reconcile Somalia’s in order to rebuild the country.
He said he will make the country a better place than it is now and vowed to closely work with the international community in regaining the status of the country in the world community.
The immediate former TFG president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed promised to work with his successor and urged the new president to strengthen the country’s armed forces in tackling insurgency and terrorism in the country.
Ahmed said he was delighted to see Somali inaugurate its leader inside the country for the last 42 years.
President Mohamud was recently elected in a historic election in Mogadishu, in the latest step to end two decades old civil war.
Somalia has been without effective government for the last two decades following the ouster of former president Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991.
Mohamud’s election has been seen as a step forward in ending the more than two decades old lawlessness and civil strife as well as piracy off the coast of the chaotic horn of African country.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud inaugurated as Somali president
Somalia’s newly elected president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been inaugurated as the country’s president in a colourfull ceremony held in Mogadishu.
