In short, the Arab-led global terrorist movement is now waging multi-pronged bloody campaigns against certain African countries and peoples on the fringes of the Arab world. Both Somalia and Mali lie on the southern infringes of the Arab world and an as a result are bearing the brunt of this new wave of Arab imperialism.

The global terrorist movement Alqaeda is aggressively relocating to Africa from its bases in Libya and Yemen. At the present, Alqaeda affiliates al-Shabaab are wrecking Somalia; Boko Haraam are terrorizing northern Nigeria, and worst of all the Alqaeda in the Islamic Maghreb is literally holding the nation of Mali hostage.

Recently, African historical monuments and artefacts in the holy city of Timbuktu have been defiled. While, Southern Somalia is under the total control of Alqaeda. The Alqaeda takeover of Somalia began in the 1990s with the tribal Al-Itihaad confederation of the Darood clans in Eastern Ethiopia (Ogadeen), Bari (Majeertyn) and Gedo (Marehan) regions. After failing to sabotage the Republic Somaliland, the Al-Itihaad criminals simply moved down south to the Hawiye lands facilitated by their trusty allies the war criminal and former Shabaab leader Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and the old man Hassan Dahir Aweys.

Al-Qaeda controlled Al-Shabaab is currently focused on subverting any indigenous cultural or religious expression of the Somali. Consequently, Somalia now looks increasingly like the black version of Afghanistan!

Even the recently elected so called “New President” of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, himself a so called “Islamist” narrowly survived a twin suicide attack by the Shabaab. The so called Western powers who are engaged in a “ Global War on Terror” seem to be unable or unwilling to intervene in the heartland of Alqaeda: Saudi Arabia. The Saudis and other Gulf Arabs continue to be the main benefactor of the Al-Shabaab terrorists and Alqaeda fighting in Somalia.

Conclusion

What started out as a quasi religious-nationalist protest in the Arab world against the success of Israel three decades ago has now morphed into a deadly cancer that is an imminent threat to all of Africa, its people and future. As Alqaeda shifts its focus to more African countries, the world is seeing more barbaric suicide bombings, beheadings, kidnappings, foreign criminals proliferating throughout the continent. In fact, the monstrous Al-Shabaab terrorists are a prominent example of this new trend.

Certainly, the belief that Arabs should rule over a transcontinental African Caliphate is not new idea. In fact, it existed since the early period of Arab colonization in North Africa in the 8th century; a wave of fanatical imperialism that resulted in the ongoing demographic imbalance of against indigenous blacks in North Africa. Today, what is remarkable is the sheer complacency of Western governments in not thwarting this bloody enterprise.
