The five were reportedly killed in a retaliatory attack in Rhamu town, Mandera district bringing the death toll since Monday to 11.
North Eastern Provincial Commissioner Ernest Munyi said termed the attack as unfortunate, saying that contingents of General Service Unit have been deployed to Mandera in order to help them restore peace in the district.
Local leaders Abdikadir Mohamed and Mohamed Mohamoud accused the government of not doing enough to contain the escalating clashes between locals in the district.
They urged the warring clans to stop the violence and engage dialogue to permanently end their differences.

Five people were killed and two others injured on Tuesday night after clashes between communities in Mandera district of northern Kenya escalated.
