Reporters sans frontières demande au ministre de l'Intérieur, Hassan Darar Houffaneh, et au ministre de la Justice, Ali Farah Assoweh, de fournir sans délai des nouvelles du correspondant de La Voix de Djibouti, Houssein Ahmed Farah, ainsi que des explications quant à son arrestation.

"Selon nos informations, Houssein Ahmed Farah se trouve toujours au commissariat central de Djibouti où il est interdit de visite. Aucun motif n'a encore été avancé pour sa détention. Quarante-huit heures déjà après son arrestation, il est intolérable de demeurer sans aucune nouvelle de ce journaliste", a déclaré l'organisation, qui réitère sa préoccupation pour son état de santé.

Houssein Ahmed Farah a été arrêté le 8 août 2012, aux alentours de 11 heures, à Djibouti-ville, par deux officiers de police, le colonel Abdoulkader Ibrahim Gona et le colonel Abdillahi Hassan Boulaleh. Par ailleurs, Reporters sans frontières a appris que les autorités djiboutiennes venaient de bloquer l'accès à cinq sites d'information somaliens : waagacusub.com,sunatimes.com,galmudugnews.com,halbeegnews.com, et qurbejoog.com.

Waagacusub.com avait récemment publié des documents secrets concernant des transferts d'argent entre les services de renseignements de Djibouti et des officiels du Somaliland, Etat autoproclamé et voisin de Djibouti.

Ce n'est pas la première fois que Djibouti bloque l'accès à des sites Internet d'information. Ainsi celui de La Voix de Djibouti (lavoixdedjibouti.com), auquel collabore Houssein Ahmed Farah, est inaccessible dans le pays. Pour contourner la censure imposée par les autorités, Reporters sans frontières a créé un site miroir (lavoixdedjibouti.rsf.org) qui permet désormais aux internautes djiboutiens de le consulter.La Voix de Djibouti a récemment publié certains des documents secrets révélés par Waagacusub.com.

News website correspondent still incommunicado48 hours after arrest

Reporters Without Borders calls on interior minister Hassan Darar Houffaneh and justice minister Ali Farah Assoweh to immediately reveal why La Voix de Djibouti correspondent Houssein Ahmed Farah was arrested two days ago, where he is being held and what his current status is.

"According to our information, Farah is still at Djibouti's central police station, where he is being refused visits," Reporters Without Borders said. "No reason has so far been given for his detention. It is intolerable that we are still without any news of this journalist 48 hours after his arrest."

Reporters Without Borders continues to be concerned about his state of health.

Reporters Without Borders has meanwhile learned that Djibouti's authorities have just blocked access to five Somali news websites — Waagacusub.com,Sunatimes.com, Galmudugnews.com, Halbeegnews.com and Qurbejoog.com.

Waagacusub.com recently posted confidential documents about transfers of money between Djibouti's intelligence services and officials in Somaliland, a breakaway Somali territory that adjoins Djibouti.

This is not the first time Djibouti's authorities have blocked news websites. The former web radio Farah works for and which is now a news website — La Voix de Djibouti (lavoixdedjibouti.com) — cannot be accessed from within Djibouti. To circumvent this censorship, Reporters Without Borders created a mirror site (lavoixdedjibouti.rsf.org) that enables Internet users in Djibouti to access the website.La Voix de Djibouti's website recently posted some of the confidential documents that had been revealed byWaagacusub.com.
