During his two-day stay in Kampala, the PM will hold talks his Ugandan counterpart Amama Mbabazi and president Yuweri Museveni to discuss bilateral relationship between the two countries, Somalia’s current political situation and the transitional period.
Prime Minister Ali and his entourage which includes cabinet ministers were welcomed by a group of Ugandan cabinet ministers and a section of the Somali students in Kampala.
A part from his talks with the area government officials, the PM will also be meeting Somali community representatives in Kampala before visiting various Ugandan military training camps.
The PM’s trip to Uganda is said to be the first of its kind since he assumed office in 2011.
Ugandan troops make up the bulk of the African Union force helping Somalia’s UN-backed government to stabilise the chaotic Horn of African country which has been marred by two decades of civil war.
