Security and possible administrative authority for the area was said to be among other issues discussed in the meeting which was also attended by several cabinet ministers.
Speaking at the meeting the president said his government will immediately set up administrative authority that will work for the interest of the locals of Afgoye.
The president also assured the public that government soldiers who violates their code of commitments will be dealt with and urged them to be responsible.
President Sharif however called on local elders to closely work with security apparatus in order to bolster security in the area.

President Sharif meets elders in Afgoye
President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Tuesday paid a visit to the recently captured Afgoye town where he held talks with local elders and civil society leaders.
