Two people were on Sunday evening killed on the outskirt of northern Somali village of Karin Dabeyl-weyn, some 57 kilometres south of Las Anod town, Sool region, after the vehicle they were travelling in came under attack from unknown gangs.

The gangs reportedly ambushed the Galkayo bound vehicle carrying passengers and killed two men who were among the passengers in the vehicle.

The gangs also took away the vehicle to an unknown destination, according Abdullahi Mohamed Muse, a local resident who spoke to Sunatimes.

Local elders are now said to be in custody of the bodies of the deceased men and are trying to contact their families.

The identity of the gangs are also yet to be established.
