Eye witnesses in Mogadishu told radio Bar-kulan that a number of mortar attacks

Mogadishu: Sunatimes- Two people have been confirmed dead after government forces and fighters of the Al-shabab militia group clashed in different parts of the capital.

The fighting took place in the Howl wadaag, Hodan and Wardigley districts of Mogadishu as government forces, aided by AMISOM, responded to mortar attacks from Al-shabab and Hizbul-Islma militias.

Eye witnesses in Mogadishu told radio Bar-kulan that a number of mortar attacks were launched in the Bakara market, which is a stronghold of the Al-shabab militia group. It is these mortar attacks that caused the death of two people.

As a result of the mortar attacks in the Bakara market other people were injured. All activity in the ever busy market came to a stand still.

The fighting groups are all claiming victory in today’s clashes although it was only local citizens who suffered the most loses. The mortar attacks hit residential and commercial premises only.
