A Court in the Netherlands has ordered the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) to bring back to the Netherlands a Somali asylum seeker who was illegally deported to Tanzania.

According to the district court in Haarlem, the asylum-seeker, Abdullahi Adam Abdullahi was wrongfully deported to Tanzania..

The court ruled that although he had a Tanzanian passport, it had not been established that he is Tanzanian.

Abdullahi reportedly came to the Netherlands from the Somali capital of Mogadishu, using an original Tanzanian passport and claimed to be from Somalia.

The court said Abdullahi could have obtained the Tanzanian passport he had in his possession from a human smuggler, and it has therefore not been established that he is Tanzanian.

The Immigration and Naturalisation Service assumed that Abdullahi had swapped his Somali nationality for Tanzanian and deported him.

Tanzanian consulate in the Netherlands confirmed that the passport was not genuine and that an audio recorded from Abdullahi reveals that he was from Mogadishu.

This is the second court ruling forcing the Netherlands’ Immigration and Naturalisation Service to bring back deported Somali asylum seekers back to the Netherlands after their lawyers filled a case in the court.

Early this year, Netherlands’ Immigration and Naturalisation Service was forced the IND to bring back two Somali brothers who were deported to Kenya, saying that they were wrongfully deported.
