    An armed militia has shot dead a Turkish businessman in Mogadishu on Wednesday night.

An armed militia has shot dead a Turkish businessman in Mogadishu on Wednesday night.

Banadir police chief, Gen. Hassan Ahmed Mallin told Sunatimes that the businessman arrived from Hargeisa three days ago before he was shot dead.

Mallin said that the victim did not inform his presence to the police in Mogadishu and stated that the Turk was on a business trip to meet with his business partner in Mogadishu, a Somali businessman named Mohamed Deq Sheikh Mohamed.

He added that the police have so far detained several suspects in connection with killing of the businessman including the owner of the hotel where the murder took place.

The police chief believes the assailants were armed al-Shabaab fighters.

The victim was killed in his hotel in the government controlled area of Baraka market and the motives behind his murder is so far unknown.
