Deputy head of Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama administration in Mataban district of Hiran region, Maalim Liban Ali Dirie told Sunatimes that torrential down pours have damaged many houses in the area.
The most affected are the displaced people who are not able to rebuild their shelters unless relief agencies offer humanitarian support, Dirie lamented.
Dirie said his administration in the district has so far blocked the streams flowing water to the victims’ suburb and urged local and international NGOs to assist the them.
Heavy rains have been experienced in many parts of Somalia in recent weeks and displaced victims are the most vulnerable who pay the heavy price during the rainy seasons in Somalia.
