Adan Abdulle Xafaa, one of the local elders in the Balanbale town told Sunatimes that efforts are now underway to put an end to further skirmishes in the area.

He said traditional elders were dispatched to a village where the fighting took place in order bring together the warring clan militias to settle their difference in peaceful manner.

Reports say the injured people were rushed Balanbale district hospital for further treatments.

The two clan militias reportedly fought over grazing land and water resources in the area which later sparked tension in the whole region.

These areas are characterized by scarcity of pasture and water, resources that are often found in disputed lands.
