    Several injured as rainstorm hits parts of Galgadud.

    Galgadud (Sunatimes)Reports from central Somalia region of Galgadud say at least 20 people have been injuries when a heavy rainstorm struck Mirji’ley area, blowing off rooftops of houses in the area.

Galgadud (Sunatimes)Reports from central Somalia region of Galgadud say at least 20 people have been injuries when a heavy rainstorm struck Mirji’ley area, blowing off rooftops of houses in the area.
Some of the victims were said to have sustained seriously injuries while others were slightly injured. The victims were forced to seek refuge in a mosque and a hospital building in the area after their houses’ rooftops were destroyed by the storm.

Dr. Ahmed Cali Mohamed, the head of the area hospital told Sunatimes that eight of the victims with serious cuts were brought to the facility for treatment.

Locals are now calling for immediate humanitarian assistance after losing their property to the storm which rendered them homeless.


With the onset of the much awaited of the Gu’ rains that Somalis initially welcomed, its now becoming now leaving trails of death and destruction countrywide.

At least 4 people have been killed in the last one week, while others have been displaced by the rains which started a few days ago.

In Aborey village, some 30 kilometres northeast of Bula-burte district, two people were killed last Monday following a heavy downpour .

The victims, both elderly persons, died in the village under difference circumstances. One of them died when his house collapsed due to heavy rains while the other one was swept away by flash floods resulting from the downpours.

Their death brings the number of persons killed in the country to four since last week. Two people were killed last Thursday following heavy downpours in parts of the riverine region of Lower Shabelle.
A powerful lightning struck Dahabo Saudi village, some eight kilometers from Kuntuwarey town killing one person.

Another one died in Bula Marer due to the extremely cold weather that followed the downpour that lasted for more than 12 hours.
