Borama (Sunatimes) I recently heard a jumble of meaningless words released on Boramanews.com on April 14, 2012 by Ahmed Ismail Samatar. In the first place, the decision to publish such a drivel by some media circles is as unnecessary as it is harmful to the Somali cause in genreral. Such discussions only raise more controversies among many already confused Somalis and their political opportunist elite.

Ahmed, as many people have already realized, is a political opportunist who is looking for a position in anywhere in great Somalia, in Somalilalnd, in Puntland, or in Mudugland. His incoherent verbiage or utterances in the last few years, if lumped togother, indicate that his mind is up for sale. Not only for sale but for cheap sale.

For many years, the media-styled professor was a proponent for greater Somalia. That was how he first acquired a false image that put him in the media cirles. In recent developments, the man’s mind changes like a leaf in the wind and without direction and reasoning all.

In this last interview, he presents himself as a man who did not follow what was going in the country which he said he adovocated for its unity for a long time. He said Somaliland is a democratic peaceful system. He is also sided with the separatist agenda of the Somaliland clan against Awdal state and Khatumo.

This means that he does not kow that Somaliland is a program designed by one tribe. Ninety five per cent of the whole sysyem, the Guurti, the Cabinet, the judicial systems and the financical systems are run by one tribe. Is that democracy or domination of one tribe? Whoever denies that is a liar.

Moreover, Somaliland is not peacful but as lawless as any part of Somalia and in some cases it may be worse. It is the only place where peaceful travellers where stopped in public road, killed mercilessly and their bodies mutilated. It is the only place where innocent sleeping people were cut in peices with ax. It is the only place where the killer beasts enjoy safety in the oppressive tribal administation enclave. It is the only place where pregnat women like Ruqiya Mire were beaten and kicked until the assailants aborted the helpless woman’s fetus. It happened because Ruqiya had the Somali flag in her home. It is the only place where a young school boy was shot dead becasue he held up the blue Somali flag in protest of separatist. Khatumo and Awdal people are even denied to claim their somali identity

Ahmed has to answer whether that is peace and stability and if that is democracy. He doesnt care and he doesnt know what is going but it is easy for him to sit and talk in search for his political agenda. Ahmed is looking for something where there is none at the expense of his own people.

Awdal and Khamtumo States declared themselves as parts of greater of Somalia. They raised the blue flag high while Somaliland is run by a separatist clan who want to break Somalis in different tribal evil and hate systems. Awdal and khatumo want to keep Somalis as one nation. In that case, Ahmed sided with the so-called Somalilander separatists against nationalist Awdal and Khatumo.

A man of principleis an individual whose life adhears to and is conditioned to human values and morals and follows such convictions to their full. According to human laws and rules for right conduct, the moral principle is a guide. As an accepted or professedrule of action or conduct, a person with fake moral principles is rejected.

Psychologists define Narcissism as self-involved attitudes and behavior where there is little or no empathy for others. Narcissism can be an inflated ego sub part or the trait can take over the personality. Narcissistic attitudes and behavior come from the ego defenses that function as smoke screens to hide the deep shame.

They also belive that self image is distorted with the narcissistic point of view and the person believes that he is superior to others. An inflated self-esteem is a defense to cover up their sense of shame deep within. Grandiosity is an insidious error in thinking that prevents them from blaming themselves and becoming depressed or disintegrated. What is also known is that creeping narcissism in a person is their succumbing to the gradual demands of selfishness and entitlement by giving in to “I am special” beliefs.

I am originally from Hargiesa and you said you are from Gabiley. At the end of the civil of the war, I could not stay in Hargeisa, my birth place and moved to Borama. I pride with my people in Awdal but, in your interview’ you denied to be a member of the Awdal people. Let me tell you that Awdalians are the most educated, sophisticated, civilised people of somalia.

Awdalians have hundreds of university professors, political scientists and respected leaders. They don”t need you and they can do without you. Education doesnt mean to graduate from university but it is to understand the different dimensions of life and that is what you are missing. Many Awdalians are more educated than you both in academics and in engineering the daunting complex corners of politics.

You only got the chance of talking to the various media cirlces. They enlist certain individuals and they never change their list when it comes to African and Asian affairs. You worked for the BBC for a long time and that is how got your name. If these locked doors of media circles call you, dont think that you are MR. KNOW ALL. They are only lazy to find around for somebody new and they are wrong.

In today’s Somali leadership, we dont need narcissistic leaders who run for their persoanl gains. We need leaders with vision, who can learn from the past mistakes and who can lead their people throuth the 21st century with courage and confidence.
