    S/Africa pledge $12.7 million for Somalia.

    South African government earmarked $12.7 million (100 million South African Rand) to support the Somali government.

South African government earmarked $12.7 million (100 million South African Rand) to support the Somali government.

In a statement, South African Foreign Affairs department, the money will be used to train Somali police force and equip other government departments.

The statement says the South African grant to Somalia was approved by the country’s parliament as well as finance and foreign Affairs ministries. But the department has not yet revealed when the money will be released to the Somali government.

South Africa is also interested in having its companies invests in Somalia, adds the statement.

Meanwhile, South Africa says it will tackle piracy off the coast of Somalia by sending join forces to the Somali coast.
