    Somali armed forces day marked in Beledweyne

    Somalia’ armed forces day has been marked today in central Somali town of Beledweyne for the first time in five years.

Somalia’ armed forces day has been marked today in central Somali town of Beledweyne for the first time in five years.

The day, April 12 is always celebrated in commemoration of the establishment of the national Armed Forces in 1960 and today’s event marks 52ndanniversary of the Somali Armed Forces.

Officials from the regional authority, military personnel and civil society leaders in the region attended the event in Beledweyne town.

TFG troops in the city staged a military parade in honour of the day which is considered a significant day in the history of Somalia.

Speaking at an emotionally-charged ceremony in the city, Col. Tawane Ali Gurey of the TFG troops said Somalia’s armed forces are now striving to rescuer their country from the two decades old conflict in the country and restore law and order.

He urged the forces to be patient during time time of difficulties and serve the nation as the country gears towards regaining its nationhood.
