The rain brought happiness in the faces of the people as they have been faced with ravaging drought and acute shortage of water. But most parts of the country are yet to receive the rains
The areas in which the long rain has begun includes the mountainous areas between Hudun and the historic town of Taleh, where the largest pastoralist communities live.
Rains have also been received in areas along the south of Las Anod town including Qabri-bayah, Dan and Karin-badayl.
The rain came at times when there was dire need for it since there has been acute water shortage in the entire region which was pillaged by constant drought added to conflicts which has recently erupted in the area between the secessionist Khatumo administration and Somaliland troops.
