The death of the infants occurred in Muki-der village of Bal’ad district, according to Ahmed Isse who is one of the residents in the village. He said all the victims were minors below the age of five.
Isse said they have no any health facility in this village, heightening anxiety among the locals that those now suffering from the disease might die soon due to lack of proper treatments.
Diarrhoea is common in the area during the rainy sessions.
A combination of poor sanitation conditions, scarcity of safe and clean drinking water and overcrowding has led to the spread of waterborne diseases in parts of the war-torn country.
Al-Shabaab has earlier suspended aid agencies from operation in the region, putting the lives of thousands of children in the region at risk.
