Top Somali officials have appealed to their citizens to take part in government’s effort to secure the country especially the capital, Mogadishu.
President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed urged the public to report suspicious individuals or groups plotting criminal activities aimed at causing havoc in the country.
The president was speaking at the site of the Wednesday attack where several people were killed and dozen others wounded including journalists.
The president cautioned his fellow compatriots not to give any supportive hand to extremist suicide bombers, saying that the female suicide bomber who blew herself up in the national theatre last Wednesday and those facilitated her activities were all criminals.
He said Al-Shabaab resorted to misuse teenagers by luring them into such activities after failing to win the war they are wagging inside the country.
President Sharif accused the Al-Shabaab group of brainwashing Somali youth just to radicalize them through what he called unfounded religious course in order to sell its ideology, urging youths not to be deceived by Al-Shabaab.
Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali on his part termed the Wednesday attack as cowardly attack that will not derail government’s effort to restore law and order in the country.
Al-Shabaab which is facing opposing from multiple fronts has claimed responsibility of the deadly attack targeting the national theatre last Wednesday, killing four people and injuring several others.
