Crude weapons including machetes, batons and spears were reportedly used during the Wednesday scuffle between the local farmers.

The scuffle erupted after two families picked a quarrel over the ownership of a farm in the area, with each family claiming ownership of the farm.

Reports say the injured people who are in a critical condition were rushed to health facilities in Jowhar town for treatments.

Al-Shabaab militants reportedly arrested some elders and family members from the rival families for allegedly failing to settle the dispute.
