    President Sharif tours parts of Mogadishu

    Mogadishu (Sunatimes)Somalia’s President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Tuesday night visited parts of Mogadishu to assess security situation following two successive nights of heavy shelling in parts of the city.

Mogadishu (Sunatimes)Somalia’s President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Tuesday night visited parts of Mogadishu to assess security situation following two successive nights of heavy shelling in parts of the city.

Dressed in a military fatigue, the president toured Tarabunka area, former Pasta Factory, Sinai junction, Sanaa and other parts of the city where he meet with security personnel keeping vigil.

Senior government security officials briefed the president on the general security situation in the city and their night patrols aimed at bolstering security in Mogadishu.

President Sharif praised government troops for their efforts in securing the city and urged them to continue serving the nation in restoring law and order into the country.

President Sharif’s nighttime visit to parts of a city, initially regarded as the world’s most dangerous city is said to be a sign of restfulness despite witnessing two nights of shelling in parts of the city.
