    Celebrated Somali artist dies in Nairobi

Nairobi(Sunatimes)Celebrated Somali folk singer and composer Hassan Mohamed Mohamoud popularly known as Hassan Jaeil has died in Nairobi, Kenya.

Hassan Jaeil who was in his late fifties died on Tuesday from complications of diabetes and multiple organ failure after an illness lasting more than two years, according to family friends.

In 2011, one of his ailing legs was amputated in a hospital in Nairobi and his health condition continued to deteriorate before passing away earlier today.

Jaeil was best known for his folk songs and ballads, sung in Somali language, but he also composed a number of songs and plays during his tenure in the music industry.

His death was confirmed to Bar-kulan by a Somali journalist Mohamed Garane in Nairobi.

The musician joined the industry in 1976, a time Somali music was gaining momentum, and joined the Waberi brand.

Apart from composing and singing love and patriotic songs, Jaeil is still remembered in actinging plays while surfing the Waberi brand.

His body will be laid to rest in Langata Muslim cemeteries in Nairobi later this afternoon.

Hundreds of moaners are expected to attend the burial as many Somalis will remember his eloquent role in the somali music industry.
