Locals confirmed to Bar-kulan that at least two low flying fighter jets were seen hovering over the town for couple of hours, heightening trepidations among the local residents.
Reports say locals around the area rebel base have started fleeing their homes in fear of aerial bombardments targeting this rebel position.
Several high ranking militant leaders including Mohamed Abu Sa’ad reportedly arrived in the town early on Sunday. The identity of these warplane still remains unknown. There were no reports of any airstrikes in the area. .
Kenyan jet fighters have been conducting airstrikes against rebel positions in the region since Kenyan military launched its offensive against Al-Shabaab early last October.
The jets are suspected to have been trying to raid rebel fighters and their leaders in the area.
The US navy has also on several occasions carried out similar operations where wanted Al-Qaida fighters were targeted.

Tension prevails in Afmadow as fiter jets were seen flying over the area
Afmadow (Sunatimes) Tension has gripped locals in rebel held Afmadow town, Lower Juba, after low flying fighter jets were on Monday seen hovering over the town, locals say.
