PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate release.

British Ambassador to Somalia condemns attack onMogadishucafe.

The British Office for Somalia unreservedly condemns the killing of at least nine people in the attack on a café near Hotel Muna in Mogadishu today. It offers its condolences to the Transitional Federal Government, the people of Somalia and in particular the families of those who died. This act of terrorism has yet again shows a disregard not just for the suffering of the Somali people, who continue to endure the effects of 20 years of conflict, but also for human life.

Speaking today in Mogadishu, the British Ambassador to Somalia, Matt Baugh said:

“I condemn this cowardly and barbaric act. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Somali people and all those who are working for a peaceful and stable Somalia. This event will only strengthen our resolve to work harder in helping the Somali people to build a better future that is free from violence and extremism.”
