Hargeisa: Sunatimes- Two ministers have resigned their positions before the beginning of the general elections in Somaliland, which declared its independence from Somalia.
The Minister for State Affairs, Hassan Ahmed Duale, and his Industrialization counterpart, Ahmed Ali Warsame, are the two ministers who resigned from their positions accusing President Dahir Riyale Kahin of failing to honor campaign promises.
Minister for State Affairs Hassan Ahmed Duale claimed that president Reyale Kahin did not fulfill an agreement they made earlier, which was to visit grassroots voters of the Udub ruling party, led by the President in the constituencies they represent.
The Industrialization Minister said that his resignation had been caused by the negative attitude of the President during the campaign. The two ministers also resigned as members of parliament; they represented two constituencies in the Togder region.
There were no comments from the President’s office since the two ministers announced their resignations earlier this morning. The two former ministers have also urged their supporters to vote for the opposition party Kulmiya.
