His resignation comes as political stalemate continues gripping the regional State administration headed my president Alin.

Galkayo (Sunatimes) Galmudug’s Galkayo mayor has resigned from his post, citing lack of cooperation from the regional administration, reports say.

Farah Hassan Jey handed over his resignation to the regional president Mohamed Ahmed Alin. But Bar-kulan could not confirm whether his resignation was formally accepted by the president or not.

Speaking to the press, Jey blamed the Interior Ministry and the regional administration for his resignation, citing unspecified hitches that forced him resign from his post.

His resignation comes as political stalemate continues gripping the regional State administration headed my president Alin.

A group of mediators from Mogadishu including the former TFG minister for Minerals and Water, Abdi Hassan Awale Qeybdid are now in Galkayo in efforts to end the current political impasse that almost paralysed the activities of Galmudug regional state.

The standoff between the region’s leadership has reached its climax after Galmudug President Mohamed Ahmed Alin announced that he has dissolved the regional parliament, citing incompetence among its members.

Alin was reacting to a decision by the lawmaking body that claimed it sucked him, a decision later reversed by a constitutional court in the region.

President Alin also imposed a nighttime curfew on the southern side of the city where his administration is based after some of his ministers were accused of entering the city with armed clam militias.
