MOGADISHU (Sunatimes) -The president of Somalia’s weak government Sharif Sheik Ahmed has on Monday strongly condemned the yesterday’s killing of the TV journalist in Mogadishu by a man dressed in uniform soldiers calling for an investigation into those who were behind this nasty act.

Abdisalan Hassan, who was working with the Somali Horn Cable TV, has been shot dead in a close range by armed man dressed in the uniform known for the government troops. Unconfirmed reports say the journalist was killed by a government soldier.

The funeral of the dead late journalist Hassan - which was widely attended by many professional journalists and reporters among his colleges - has today taken place in Mogadishu.

“We will never accept to kill the journalists whom we know that they operate in the hard conditions of Mogadishu and endanger their lives to let society to be informative to what daily happens in Somalia and around the world,” the president said.

Yesterday was another scary day for the local journalists in Mogadishu when it came the news of the journalist’s death in deliberate shooting by a soldier suspected to be belonging to the government troops.

“Before we were unsafe in the areas controlled by Al-Shabaab, now we feel even insecure in the government’s strongholds. So we don’t what our future will be,” one of the Mogadishu reporters said.
