Gedo (Sunatimes) Hundreds of Somali farmers in Gedo region of Somalia have lost their planted crops after Juba and Dawa rivers flooded where neighbouring districts are said to be grappling with the problems brought in by the floods.

Among the districts flooded by the two rivers are Lug, Dolow and Bulla-hawo where the farmers were hit by the overflows.

Lug district, which is one of the most flooded areas, lost five water-pumping engines where banana, pawpaw, beans and maize yields were destroyed by the flooding waters.

Bishar Mohamed Ali, one of the victims of the flooded farms said the floods have hit his 15-acre farm and swept away his expected farm harvest of the year.

The floods come at a time when there are heavy rains witnessed in Gedo region of Somalia.
