Dubai (Sunatimes) The United Arab Emirates government
said that it will double its effort in combating piracy along the Indian Ocean
where Somali pirates have recently snatched boats and ships en route to East
Africa.
The permanent representative of the United Arab
Emirates to the United Nations, Ahmed Jarman announced that UAE will raise its
efforts in combating piracy along the Indian ocean which saw the abduction of
ships plying the Somali coast.
Ahmed revealed that the last few months pirates in the
Indian Ocean heightened their efforts on business-bound ships in which he said
that some are currently held hostage.
The UAE permanent representative called the UN and
other developed nations to increase anti-piracy activities so that piracy will
be brought to book.
