Guriel (Sunatimes) A light aircraft ferrying a
consignment of narcotic leaves popularly known as Khat in Somalia on Thursday
morning crashed in Guri-el airstrip, eyewitnesses say.
The plane came from Kenyan and crash-landed on the
runway. No human casualties had been reported. The ill-fated plane veered off
the runway, according to eyewitnesses in the area.
The head of the airfield where the plane crashed, Ali
Yussuf Ahmed, confirmed to Bar-kulan that a light plane carrying Khat (a mild
stimulant) from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, crash-landed at the airstrip. He
said the crash caused no human casualty.
Reports say the plane normally brings Khat on daily
basis from Kenya to Guri-el, where the stimulant business is booming.
